A Journey in Downtown Asheville
This weekend I had the great pleasure of being with Tina, my brother, his wife and two daughters in Asheville. We decided to go to downtown Asheville and walk around and see the different local businesses. There were all types of shoppes, restaurants, art studios and the list goes on. I want to mention three specifically for you to know about and visit when you come to this mountain town.
The first one was "Jewels That Dance". Very nice jewelry and some alittle pricey for me but very shiny but nothing too bling bling. If you're looking for a nice set of earrings, silver bracelet, necklace or even a very nice engagement ring, stop by there. The folks in there are very helpful and wanting to answer any questions that you may have about a certain theme or item you may be looking for to give to that special someone.
Secondly, "The Chocolate Fetish". My oldest niece, loves chocolate and really liked this place. You can watch chocolateirs making all kinds of chocolate creations. You walk in the store and your nose is suddenly rushed with the sweet smell of that elixir. All kinds. Cakes, shoes(yes shoes), fish and all kinds of truffles. Stop by there and feed that chocolate monster that we all know you have from time to time.
Finally, and one of my favorites, "The Onyx Orchard Cheese Company". Nothing too fancy, however some of the most delicious cheeses you will find this side of the Mississippi or Mason Dixon, depending on your location. Tim, the proprietor, is very friendly and will let you sample any cheese in one of the several cases he has at his location. To name a few, 2 year smoked Gouda, sage cheddar, cheddar made with Guinness and many smooth and creamy blues. If you're looking for cheese, this is definitely a place to visit. I highly recommend this place.
I will be making more posts about this area's great local businesses and I hope that when you come here, you try each and every one of them. If you need an address or phone number, please let me know. I know that you can also find some of them on Facebook. Enjoy and tell me some places you've been to here in Asheville.
