So this evening I watched a recorded episode of The Dr. Phil Show (no rude comments please). It was about bullying. I gotta say, it tugged at my heart a lot. Many of you that know me, especially when I was a child, I was picked on. Some times to the extent of me crying. Did I tell mom and dad? I don't remember doing so. Would they have helped, knowing my parents, they would have gone to the school...so maybe that is why I didn't say anything. Now, I'm grown and understand that I have a lot to offer this world and more importantly, God has a plan for me. With that, did it hurt when it took place? Like most of you out there reading this...terribly.
Watching that show made me think that I need to share my thoughts on this topic. Now, before we go further we all understand that I am not a professional in this topic and am not in any way giving advice, just my opinion. I know someone from my younger years that specializes in this topic and I can give you contact information if you want...that is up to you.
Ok. Where am I going? Think about something for me, just for a second. Have you ever been picked on? How did you feel? Were you to the point of ending your pain? I never got that far, but it still hurt. When you were growing up, did you pick on someone? Call them names like stupid, retarded, slow, fat, and the list goes on. Did you feel good about yourself? How would you have felt if that person you were picking on, ended their life because of what you said?
Most of you that are my age, whether you were picked on or did the picking, probably have kids now. How would you feel if they were being picked on? What would you do? What about if you found out your kid was a bully. This is a big big problem. It ain't as "harmless" as it was when we were young (I used quotations because it never was or will be harmless). If you don't believe me, look up the definition of harmless. You know what, I'll do it for you.
HARMLESS is defined as, without injury; unhurt; unharmed.
Pretty much opposite of what I felt back in the day.
We're all apart of this in one way or the other. Maybe you were picked on. Maybe you did the picking. Or you may have a child doing the bullying or being bullied. Ask questions. Get involved. We need to stop the bullying. If you don't think you should get involved....remember how you felt back when it happened to you. What if it got worse and guess what folks it has...kids are killing themselves. We need to stop this act of violence. Please get involved! Thank you.

Something New
Just as the title states, that is what is going on. I have changed the blog a little and added some new features. For all of you that have followed in the past, thank you and I encourage you to continue to follow and read and explore. For you newcomers....Welcome! I hope you enjoy and come back often, oh and tell your friends.
Question...Are you readers ready for me to post pictures? The types will be depending on what you the audience suggests. So tell me.
Now for a new place to eat here in the Asheville area. Do you like fresh sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts? Of course you do, who doesn't right? There is a place you should try if you live in the area or visiting. Rev It Up Sandwich Shop. They are located at 5 Regent Park Blvd, Suite 108. Close to the Sam's off of Patton Ave.
I went there last night with Tina for dinner. Very good to say the least. Teresa, the owner, has a passion for cooking and baking. I have talked to her on several occassions before they opened and you could just see the gleam in her eyes about being open and having great food for people to enjoy. I had what is called the "Two Lane Black Top". Talk about filling and tasty. It has turkey, homemade pimento cheese, grilled bacon on ciabatta bread. Tina had the "Road King", which has ham, turkey, jalapeno havarti cheese, lettuce, tomato, and deli mustard on ciabatta bread. Both were made to order. Everything down to slicing the meats and cheeses to make the sandwich.
So are you getting hungry yet? I know I will be back.
The decor is very warm and inviting. They have a pergola built over the sandwich station and nicely decorated. Lots of car and Harley items hang on the wall...kind of leading to their menu items. Great theme.
From what I understand, they will be serving beer of many different kinds in the near future. So why not go by for a cold one? They will also be having a website soon, for all to view their complete menu.
For you out there that know me, you know I love trying new places to eat and love to tell others about places I enjoy. This is one of them. Go there, what are you waiting for? An invitation. Well Laughter Life and Food is inviting you. Now go enjoy some good food.
